Community Garden #1 - Fawn World X Hans Chew
Community garden #1: The luxury of punishment is an outdoor botanical installation produced by FAWN world and Hans Chew.
With the brief being decadence, they came together to construct this “community garden” to explore ideas of indulgence, desire, restriction and protection.
They are presenting precious ceramic cargo and botanical jewels - fragile objects of desire while surrounding them with a contrasting “cage” frame-like structure that’s is heavily guarded by thorny limbs, spikes and fangs.
Informed by HDB community gardens and their constant state of Work In Progress - they have adopted the material language of construction sites by using industrial objects
such as the traffic cone and safety netting - all in highlighter reds and oranges to denote restriction and danger.
This installation, part of 28-41 Supper House, spans over the duration of two months and will evolve as the weather transforms. Audiences are encouraged to participate by picking up one of the watering apparatus and water our community garden.
